Over the past two decades, Dubai has leveraged its hotel, hospitality and airline assets with rapid development in the fields of sport, leisure and tourism to become a world-class destination for the global traveler.
Dubai has emerged as the undisputed sports capital of the Middle East. The successful Dubai Desert Classic Golf Championship launched in 1988 has maintained its momentum over the past two decades. The Dubai Tennis Championship attracts the who’s who of the international tennis circuit. The world renowned Dubai World Cup, launched in 1996, remains the world's richest racing meet, the IRB Dubai Sevens, recognised as a premier rugby tournament, and the Dubai Autrodrome known for its illustrious racing events, have all carved an indelible niche in the world of sport.
Many unique shopping malls are available in the tax-free city, including Dubai Mall - the largest mall in the Middle East and Europe that offers a combination of high-fashion brands, retail outlets, and leisure attractions. Dubai Mall is home to the Dubai Aquarium and the Dubai Ice-Skating Rink. The Mall of the Emirates offers high-end shopping and includes Ski Dubai – one of the largest indoor ski slopes in the world.

Other popular tourist attractions include the dolphin bay, desert safaris, water skiing, jet skiing, and Dubai’s fun-filled water parks: Wild Wadi and Aquaventure.
